PECIPTA 2009

Well, i just come back from KL last week for this event. It is an event where of encouragement from Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in the development of Science and Technology through exposition once in every two years. PECIPTA 2009 aims to exhibit products, inventions and innovations from Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia and overseas, thus providing an opportunity for participants to establish networks and collaborations towards the commercialisation of developed prototypes. The expo took place from 8th – 10th October 2009 at Hall 1 and 2, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Since our hotel stay was not far from KLCC, so every day we just walk on foot. The theme for this year PECIPTA was 'Driving Research Innovation Towards Value Creation. The opening ceremony was done by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin. There were prizes given to those researchers who get their research attractive and beneficial to the community. Universiti Malaya was announced the winner of the Premier Research Award, having 4 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals in this year PECIPTA 2009. Congratulation to all winners. Apart from that, my institute was asked to set up an aquarium for the exhibition purpose. We bring our research, the first in the world hybrid grouper between mouse grouper and tiger grouper. It was very frustrating during the set up, decision were made in last minutes, luckily with the help of my colleague and event organizer, we manage to pull off. The fish really get lots of attraction from the crowds include a local newspaper, Utusan Melayu. Ok, enough talk about my official job, i did managed to get myself some free time to enjoy around Kuala Lumpur, i went to shopping for my favourite anime stuff, glad i found some limited stock at XL-shop, Midvalley. Beside than that, my colleagues and me also been to Bukit Bintang to see all the happening there. Last but not least, our favourite, Karaoke. It’s been really fun weekday.
